Statement of Teaching Philosophy
- I believe that a teacher’s role is to guide, monitor and facilitate students’ learning. The teacher is not the primary source of information; instead he helps students learn to find the answers to their questions.
- I believe in the value and power of language. I appreciate language as an instrument to share knowledge, thoughts, feelings and culture. We must help students to realize the value of different languages and encourage them to learn and experience other cultures through their languages and develop insight into their own language and culture.
- I believe that teachers should be aware and respect cultural diversity inside and outside the classroom. Teachers should take into account student’s backgrounds, interest when designing curriculum and lesson plans.
- I believe that the teacher should prepare students with 21st century skills. Teacher should promote critical and creative thinking and problem solving for learning while developing communication skills. Also teachers should use new technology and improve students’ abilities. Teachers should provide opportunities for students to interact and develop leadership and social skills.
- I believe that teachers should create or adapt meaningful activities and materials. Teachers should use hand-on activities for students to construct their knowledge and practice skills in authentic situations.
- I believe that a teacher should provide a caring, safe and equitable environment. A teacher should promote respect between students and build community in the classroom where everyone has the same opportunities to learn and share ideas.
- I believe that every child is unique with different abilities and learning styles. Teachers should teach to the needs of each child so that all learners can feel confident, successful and develop their own potential.
- I believe that teachers should set high academic standards for students and for themselves. Every child is a lifelong learner; teachers should actively engage students and provide them tools to discover and construct their knowledge to reach high academic standards.
- I believe that teaching is both challenging and rewarding. Teaching provides an opportunity for continual learning and growth. It is my desire as an educator to help students to reach their fullest potential to succeed in life and contribute to society.
- I have a love for learning and a passion for teaching.
